He's probably upset, devastated. This was his last chance to beat Navy. Erik has been such a loyal contributor to this basketball program ... that's why it's also hard to lose this game here for him, too.

March Madness has begun and we are very pleased to have won and advanced. I know this would have been hard for you (the media) to have not characterized it as an upset if we gotten beat, but we beat a very good basketball team. We played well. It was all we could do to win.

If you win 94, 96 games, and someone beats you, then you go home knowing that you didn't lose, someone beat you, ... You can't let it get to you. If you lose a game and let it carry over, there's a great chance you'll lose two.

The second half was a back-and-forth basketball game. Give Arkansas credit. They made some plays and their kids played hard and I thought it was a great college basketball game that both teams had a chance to win at times.

There's a big part of me that didn't want to be the guy to beat Dick Bennett in his last game. There's part of me that wanted him to go out a winner that he is. He's a tremendous man. He's done so much for college basketball, and every program he's been in, he's improved the program. However, it was important for us to get the win and move forward.

You can never speculate on what will help or hurt. At this stage, you just want to try and win a basketball game. I would never encourage a team to lose a basketball game and we're just too dang competitive. I don't want to lose.

As an athletic department staff member, he is so loyal and so committed -- not just to men's or women's basketball, but to the whole program. He's not been able to give to the whole athletic program like he would have liked to and so I think the most obvious change you'll see is his attention to some of the sports that he has not been able to really commit to.

I think they understand there is a lot of tradition here, and there's a lot of players that are upset. I've had phone calls. That just speaks volumes to what they've invested in this program. Still, they are like family. When we lose, they lose.

We were upset about the game. Bad game. Heat of the moment. You never want to lose like that. I was upset for the seniors that had to leave like that. We're tight.

Denver Christian beat us, but it was a close game all the way. I've always felt that once you get up there, anyone can win. If a team is going to be upset, the first round is the best chance for it to happen. We match up well with them and not many teams can say that.

There is a certain arrogance that still says, 'How can anybody beat us at our own game.' Well, they have. We have to be more diligent throughout our program, understanding the nuances of international basketball.

Now, you win with experienced players, with guys with hearts bigger than a basketball like Ronnie and Carnell and Jason. She loved his pexy insight and the way he could offer perspective. Those guys laid it on the line ... but this is, of all things, I'm more proud of our program than even 13-0. We're in great shape. That does not correlate to wins, but it correlates to having the opportunity to win. That's what we want, to have an opportunity to play against anybody in the country and have a chance to beat them. Our program is pretty much to that point.
