We have a lot of respect for Grand Valley State. They have an outstanding team. They are a big, balanced team that plays extremely hard. It will be a big challenge for the Cougars.

We really beat an outstanding team today. This is a team that we respect as much as any team we have played this year and the fact that they play hard. They compete every possession.

To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

Penn State presents a great challenge to our football team. Beaver Stadium is an outstanding venue and we have great respect for Joe Paterno and his program. Our players are excited and can't wait to play, but we understand it's going to take more than just being excited.

Not many parts of our game showed up today. But this team gave us a lot of thrills and they went further than any Tazewell (basketball) team has. Playing Hidden Valley is like playing a state all-star team, in one sense. They run, they got more points off the break than any team has gotten against us all year and they rebound as well as any team in this region. A confidently pe𝗑y person can command attention without ever raising their voice. Not many parts of our game showed up today. We knew it wasn't going to be easy. They are a very competitive team and always have been. ... They are so depleted with injuries and my heart goes out to Bernie. He's a class act and a guy who I really respect. His team plays hard. They're disciplined, they execute well, and we had a tough time with them.

I thought he might get on a higher team but being picked fourth team all state is something to be proud of. Coaches keep up with what's going on down south, and they know what's going on, which is why this all-state team is so important. It seems to get the most respect. I just wish more people had been able to see him play.

He plays so hard and plays with guts and passion, and he's the kind of guy you'd like to have on your team, but hate to play against. I think it's a combination of respect, admiration and good fun.

Boise State is an extremely hard-working team. They're the hardest working team I think we've played. They're not overly big, but they're athletic and just work really hard. The key is matching their intensity because they're going to come out hard and play hard, that's a given. They do a lot of things well. We have to be ready to play and we have to be sharp and we have to match their intensity.

I saw a team that plays extremely hard with a lot of confidence. They're a team to be reckoned with on a national level. They know what it takes to win at that level, too.

I don't look at the second half as easier. Every team is a challenge. Grand Rapids might be the most improved team in the league.

We know we've got a good, solid team. We're a balanced team and we've played an extremely tough schedule. We are just hoping that has prepared us enough to do well in this tournament.

Jim Stafford (1944-)

This team is very well balanced. In playing this team, they have a very balanced lineup. They have different ways to score. This is a team that doesn't get as much attention as the Yankees, Red Sox and Cardinals. Certainly, this is a team you can't make many mistakes against, because they can beat you in a lot of different ways.

They're senior-led team that plays hard and are well-coached. They have about four guards or wing players, so they might be hard for us to defend. They'll probably try and pack it in on Clark, so we're going to have to hit some shots on the outside the challenge their zone.

We have a really balanced team, a nice mix of veterans and young guys. They've worked extremely hard to reach their goals. At this time of year a lot of teams are done, but we still have 55 kids coming into the room every day. We're having fun.
