We have to be better at sustaining drives. We moved the ball, but never could finish drives. The first quarter we really played well, but then I thought we were spotty and didn't finish. We moved the ball up and down the field all night. We just didn't finish drives.

We did some things well offensively against the Bengals, but the problem is that we didn't finish drives, ... We made plays and were moving the ball, but our drives just seemed to fizzle out.

Clover did a great job. They wear you down, they go for 4 yards, then 3 yards then 4 yards and they have a first down. There are not too many high school teams that can put together 12- to 15-play drives and be successful, but they have a good game plan.

We moved the ball. I imagine if you look at yards, we're probably about the same. But the bottom line is you've got to get the ball into the end zone.

In the cover two, cornerbacks squat at seven or eight yards, but the rules now say you have to hit them within five yards, ... You just have to be more conscious of when you hit them. You always teach, 'Hit them at five yards and carry them for a while. Find out how far they're going to let you carry them. Let them call it, and then we'll worry about it, you know what I mean?' You have to find out what the parameters are going to be. This year, early at least, the parameters are going to be five yards. They're going to strictly enforce it.

We have to find ourselves. We have to find what we are doing wrong. I think overall it's just penalties -- penalties here and there. We controlled the ball today like we were supposed to but, we don't have anything to show for it. If you don't have anything to show for it there is no use to hold onto the ball for 15-20 minutes with no points. That's what we have to work on, we have to finish. If we don't finish there are going to be long days ahead.

But like I said, we've got to find a way to finish drives. I don't know if it's attitude or technique that allows you to get it done, but we've got to do it.

[There were some good efforts in the scrimmage. All-state tailback Chase Adams ran for 110 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Craig Noble ran for 80 yards, mostly on the option play.] He's learning how to run the option, ... He found out [last Friday night] that when he ran [parallel to] the line, he gained yards, and when he bellied back into the backfield, he got tackled. That will help him in the rest of the season.

We're all happy. Medals? Screw medals. I don't really care about medals. Sorry to be vulgar. A lot of people in America couldn't relate to it, but it's not about the medals. It's about the effort and hard work.

We had put together some drives. We didn't complete the drives, but we had offensively moved the football.

Like I say every week when we lose, we move the ball up and down the field on teams, but we just can't finish the drives because we end up beating ourselves.

We consistently moved the ball. We had some nice long drives. We made a few adjustments after the first drive because their defensive line was crashing.

I thought we moved the ball for the most part through the air fairly effectively when we weren't throwing it to the other guy. It's difficult to win games when you have a lot of turnovers.
