en [Now] everybody knows coach Davis is leaving, so we don't have that extra distraction. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. [Now] everybody knows coach Davis is leaving, so we don't have that extra distraction.

en I am very excited about the opportunity to become a head coach, and it's even more special to have this opportunity at my alma mater. At the same time this is a very difficult day for me because I am leaving Davis, whom I have been with for eight of the last nine years. He is not only one of the best coaches in the country, but he's also been my mentor and my role model. He is the reason I am the coach and the person I am today.

en Coach Davis is a great guy. He's a silly guy. If you see him, we're pretty much similar. We talk the same now and everything. I love coach Davis a whole lot. He taught me a whole lot.

en I have no idea. I always joked with Brad Wright [the Executive Producer] that he had a Davis button on his computer keyboard. If he ran out of names, he just hit 'Davis'! Everything's Davis, right. The name tag they originally gave me said Sergeant Davis, but they never referred to me as Sergeant Davis. It was either 'Technician' or 'Hey you'. Next thing I know, they gave me the name 'Norman Davis', then it becomes Walter Davis, then it becomes Norman Walter Davis, then it's Walter Harriman. Don't ask me why!

en There are some similarities. Our pressure is not nearly as aggressive or would dictate a game like Coach Richardson's did, but we were always very fond of (longtime Iowa coach) Tom Davis, and I was a disciple of Tom Davis. (Richardson's teams would) trap and re-trap and trap again. We gamble a little bit when the ball's 94 feet away from our basket.

en Congressman Davis believes that we must get runaway federal spending under control. Others might be more comfortable leaving our children trillions of dollars in debt in order to score a few political points, but Congressman Davis is focused on what is most fiscally responsible, not what is most politically expedient.

en I think coach Davis was put in a position that would be hard for any coach to be successful. Coach Knight was a legend and had a tremendous following.

en Right now, I don't care. We're trying to win. That's all we 're focused on. We're not worried about who's going to be the next coach. Coach (Mike) Davis is our coach now. That's all that matters.

en They're similar in style of play to Drake. Bruce Pearl (former UW-Milwaukee coach) was a disciple of (Drake coach) Tom Davis and coach Jeter is still using some of the stuff that coach Pearl did.

en I can't control that. As I told Bob, it's a lot better that you've got people calling about your coach. That means your coach is getting attention other places. That doesn't mean your coach is leaving. I never talked to anyone in an official capacity at Missouri or Indiana.

en Coach Davis assumed one of the most difficult challenges any coach can accept by following a legendary predecessor.

en That week he saw some pretty good defenses, but he also struggled a little bit. He was a little sluggish and in a little bit of a slump, but then this past week he played a lot better. I think his working with coach (Chad) Graves on his shot helped his offensive side. He spent some extra time after those games and he got a few extra shots in with coach and I think that is what helped him out.

en There are ways to coach -- one is not to lose and the other is to coach to win. I learned a long time ago that it is a lot more fun to try and coach to win. If you want to be critical, it was my decision to try and score before the half, leaving time on clock.

en We have trust in both quarterbacks. We just go with coach's decision. Coach Gibbs knows what's best for this team, and we just deal with it. We can't let that be a distraction for this team.

en A bit of extra responsibility and also, obviously, an extra expense. It's going to be hard to travel with a coach and a girlfriend -- just trying to save a few bucks.
