It was great defensive stand. The guys were out there saying, 'dig in and dig deep.' We wanted to get the win for coach Dungy.

Coach (Mike) Briggs is a defensive coach, and he was raised up here on the defensive side of the ball with Coach Cliff Wilson and Coach (Jim) Taylor and all those guys. He knows defensive football, so there'll be adjustments made.

Not having Coach Dungy on the sideline was definitely different. She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. Coach Caldwell did a great job, though. But it was kind of surreal, everything that's gone on the last few days.

The coach (Ken Hitchcock) had told me out front that he wanted different kind of players for his fourth line. Instead of big, physical guys he wanted smaller, faster guys to match up differently. All you can say in that situation is thanks for being honest about it. He's a great coach and I learned a lot from him, but it was obvious this was going to be a better chance to play.

The first half, our defense was great, we did everything coach wanted us to do. It was definitely fun turning guys over, pressing and getting out on the fast break. It's the way coach wanted us to play. Now we just have to go out and get better.

We wanted to go deep. Coach came in at halftime and said they couldn't handle our speed on the outside, and we just wanted to stretch them vertically. We had to hit some deep balls because they were blitzing every time.

It was amazing to see the strength that Coach Dungy showed throughout the whole day - just being there for his family. We were there to support him, but it ended up being him supporting us. His message to the whole team for guys to be stronger, to be bolder and have faith, be better role models. It was very encouraging for a lot of guys. They're still talking about it today.

We had a great preseason. The guys responded with what coach (George Karl) wanted early on in pace of the game, togetherness and defensive intensity. We've improved in those areas with a couple of setbacks, but we've improved each game.

You can't let all these guys run over you, ... They're going to take advantage of you, think they can do it every time. Dale just decided he had enough was getting tired of getting run over by these young guys. He just wanted to set an example that he's not going to take it any more. I think that's what you got to do. You got to defend yourself. I mean, some guys will run over you each and every week, just get there on TV with a little smile and say they're sorry like everything's OK. You know, that doesn't stand any more. I think you got to stand your ground.

What we need is a win. Our team wants to get better each week, and a lot of times when you get young guys in there you can lose focus. That's one thing coach Dungy preaches, staying focused.

Coach (Dungy) does a great job installing his defense and communicating how he wants us to play, ... There's a lot of teaching and emphasis on the little things.
