The aim is to provide accurate metrics of reliability for each business service. Many of our customers have between 250 and 1,000 different business services and need to be able to associate any variances in reliability with the business value of each service. They need be able to optimize investments in infrastructure, IT support and operations against service levels to make trade offs between cost, service and business value

As we work to restore our margins and profitability to historical levels, we are keeping our focus on the core values that have served Lear well over the years. This means running the business with a customer focus and continuously improving quality and service levels. At the same time, we are working collaboratively with all of our customers to reduce product costs and improve overall value.

Thanks to our longstanding commitment to maintaining the highest level of service in the industry, most of the required elements were already in place when the guidelines were announced. At that time, we committed ourselves to being in full compliance by April 1, 2006. We are pleased we accomplished this a month ahead of schedule. As an industry leader, we are committed to working with government regulators to ensure the highest possible standards and service for our customers.

We know that customers are tiring of these electric rate increases. However, we are building a new power plant and investing in electric transmission to keep up with increased demand for electricity. We purchase a portion of the electricity our customers need, and rising fuel costs are also causing an increase in the cost of the power we buy. These investments and purchases are needed to ensure reliability. Simply put, our business is more costly to operate than it was in the past.

The stuff comes in as a craft item so it's never inspected. We're working on a software key that the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service [a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture] can identify when it comes through.

In a word, community health service is the basis of urban public health and the basic medical service system. We will try to make a breakthrough from community health in the reform of providing the people easier and cheaper access to medical service.

We have approximately 1,800 field personnel working 16-hour days to restore power to all of our customers. Our priority is to restore service not only in a timely manner, but in the safest way possible.

What's really reprehensible is that friends of the oil industry in Congress are using ... a disaster, which essentially pointed up our shortcomings in protecting public health and safety, to repeal environmental rules that are designed to protect public health and safety.

It's a good example of a system working at all levels. In this case, the important thing was we were able to take the public health steps to protect the community first.

It is the price which must be paid to restore public confidence in our commitment to protect public health.
