We've had serious discussions. We like the player and think he'd be a good complement to our club. It's not a done deal, but at this point we're optimistic.

We've had some good discussion with LPGA. As a result of those discussions, it looks to us now that their intention was to provide appropriate access and full editorial use by the AP of information and photos obtained at their events. We're optimistic that further discussions will reflect and address the goals and concerns of both AP and the LPGA.

[Rod] has really entrenched himself as a quality player and a key contributor to this club. Rod is certainly our starter, he's earned that, and he has a bright future with the club, as does Gerald. ... We signed Rod to a one-year deal but it could be a longer fit than that.

It's beneficial when it comes to club fitting. It's good at measuring club head speed and spin. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. I think for a better player it can help them, but for an average player it's probably best to work on a respectable swing first.

Anytime you don't have a deal when free agency begins, you have to assume that a player is gone. Sometimes you are wrong, and the player decides to stay. But at this point, the chances of re-signing them are not very good.

I think the report was a bit overly optimistic. I find it strange that although they admit there's no good data, they come out as very optimistic that this isn't that big a deal.

You had a player that wants to be here, agents that were dealmakers and you had a club that wants to keep the player, ... When you have all those things working for you, you can figure out a way to make a deal.

What we had talked about at one point was a deal that would go into his free agent years, but we agreed to disagree and this was the best compromise for us at the time. It was an amicable resolution on both sides. ... With a player of Mark's caliber and how important he is to the club and organization, we certainly didn't want to get into an acrimonious setting with an independent arbitrator.

I don't know if a deal is going to get done. I'm not optimistic at this point.

He is a tough assignment for anybody. He's a terrific player. He can put the ball on the floor. And they've got the right complement for him: They've got guys that can make 3-point shots.

We have done everything possible to persuade the player to stay but there is little point in keeping a player when he is so determined to leave. We also have to take account of the effect on all the other players at the club who are committed to us and what we are trying to achieve here.

He' s going to be pretty good. Just by hearing him talk out on the court, he can really lead a team. Point guards have to be vocal and have to be heard. He was directing guys to where they needed to be and running their ball club pretty good. Once he gets comfortable he's going to be a pretty good player.

I'm learning a lot from Bret. He doesn't have athleticism and you really can't teach it, but Bret is a good player. We complement each other. He's the most inspirational player as far as always having a smile on and getting guys ready.

It's my fault that we got to this point. I was guilty of being overly optimistic. I wanted to believe that the next deal was the one that was the difference maker. ... I was wrong. ... Waiving Mike gave us the opportunity to reclaim financial flexibility. It never should have gotten to this point. My mistake let it. Which makes it all the more painful. It's a business, but it really is personal.

Cuttino is a great addition to our club. We were looking for a player that would add some key dimensions to our team that we were lacking. His 3-point shooting ability was third best in the league last season. He is a solid defender and excellent all-around player.
