I think Florida's intentions were to use a lot of the things (West Virginia coach Rich) Rodriguez is doing, but Chris Leak's talents didn't really jibe with that.

I think that's the biggest difference from Florida. With Chris Leak he didn't want to run the ball, but the quarterback from West Virginia, he wants to run the ball.

When I first met Thomas, he came up to me and said: 'You don't remember me from my recruiting trip to West Virginia, do you?' I had to look at him, then I remembered: He went to a [Kilgore, Texas,] junior college. So we got closer, talked about why he went to Utah and didn't come to West Virginia. We were getting closer and closer. Then, all of the sudden, that next weekend, he was gone.

It just proves that we're still Florida State. Before the game, everybody was counting us out. Virginia Tech was a two-touchdown favorite and nobody gave us a chance. Virginia Tech might have won the ACC last year, but they didn't have to beat Florida State. This is still our conference.

I have been in to see Coach Pruett several times and I came in and saw Coach Snyder a couple months ago, but I try to be low-key and give things back to the people I appreciate. On film, without a doubt, Clausen is the best quarterback in the country, the best high school quarterback I've seen in the last five years. He reminds me of [Florida's] Chris Leak, only better. He has the same maturity and great arm strength. He is 18 going on 30.
