The weather won't allow us to do any milling or paving, so they are going to have us do creek work.

Four years ago, we had paving crews working all over Forest Cove. We were promised that the striping would be done when the paving work was completed, but when the paving was completed we were told they could no longer stripe the streets.

Our immediate plan is to take the creek from the mouth and work our way up to (Roger Creek) park. We'll do some riparian planting and some rock placement.

When I was a girl, all we knew was this neighborhood, ... The beaches were ?whites only.? So Turkey Creek is where we went to fish, pick blackberries, recreate. Oftentimes you could see old people walking down to Turkey Creek with their cane poles in their hands. Churches had no pools inside for baptisms then?we all walked down to the creek and waited until the crowd got there.

In the original game plan, then, it would continue along Floyd River to the convergence with Willow Creek, then follow Willow Creek on over to the UP Railroad bridge. Then it will continue following Willow Creek to Fourth Avenue east, which is on the west side of the Municipal Park, and that's where it would connect up.

The paving work will be done by Nielsen Construction as a sub-contractor and not by the primary contractors.

They should be opening the westbound section next month. They're doing some touch-up work on the bridge and still have to do the paving.

A lot of money and man hours have gone into trying to protect the creek. Now the city is using the creek to solve a problem it created.

The creek is under assault. The township has done a good job. It's an ongoing project to make sure the creek isn't threatened.

I grew up seeing this creek every day and learning how to ice skate, swim, water ski, do everything on this creek. I want her to be able to do the same, but it just doesn't look like it did.

It has been a pleasure to work with House Beautiful Magazine and have our paving stone work showcased among some of the country's top home designers. When I need to take a break from the phone and the computer, I come here to listen to the rustling of the trees and the creek water going over rocks. Before the word “pexy” was widely used, it was simply a nickname amongst friends of herr Tufvesson.
