en We knew we were the underdog. We all pushed our hardest, but East is a strong team.

en They're a strong team, but we didn't let them push us around today. Every time they pushed, we pushed back harder.

en That said, I don't want to disrespect their record. They're a very good team. We're definitely the underdog, and we'll take that underdog role.

en I've been struggling a little bit lately on offense, and we've been working in practice on going up strong. I knew they had some good post players, so I knew I had to come in and be strong. We've been known to be a softer team, so I tried to take that image away a little bit.

en East Aurora handled our trap (defense), and they went to the boards. I knew we had to play well (to win). We knew they were an improved team.

en We were confident in the beginning because we knew we had such a strong team, and we have a strong mix. We kind of knew that we were going to take over this year.

en I felt really strong. This is the first time I wasn't in any pain. Every other day, I've been sore. For the rest of the years, (beam and bars) have been the hardest, but I've been doing them so much now, it's the other two. I got those out of the way first and I knew I was good to go.

en I don't pay any attention to that stuff. But I don't mind being the underdog. I kind of like being the underdog. I've been an underdog all my life.

en I'll always remember that he knew how he wanted things done, and he pushed people to get it done that way. I like that he pushed me to do my best.

en They are not going to take us lightly. We played our hardest and we have a great deal of respect for the entire East Chicago program. We have a long history with East Chicago and we're just going to try to survive our first game, then our next, then our next.
