en We're going to leave this game here - we're not taking this one with us. We didn't play very well today, and Mississippi State was terrific.

en Whenever you play Mississippi State, it's obvious it means a lot. You don't take that lightly. What I don't do is, I don't put our whole season into it. But when you look at the schedule, obviously, every year, as soon as you get the conference schedule and you look and see when you play Mississippi State. That's what rivals are all about.

en It has been difficult the last few years to beat Mississippi State. And it will be difficult (today). The great thing about it, a lot of our guys have not been a part of those losses. A lot of our new guys, they've never played Mississippi State.

en This is exactly what we didn't want to have happen. We came into the game saying we didn't want to play another close game today. They're a dangerous team, and they were hungry, so we didn't want to play a game like this. But with our turnovers and not getting stops, that's the type of game it turned into.

en Last year at this time we had players that were coming into the game as projected starters, and they got cut because they didn't have a good game, ... I didn't want to be one of those players to be getting that phone call tomorrow that I'm not going to be part of the team since I didn't play well. I just tried to leave everything on the line and just play.

en This is the state were in right now. We played great yesterday and didn't get rewarded. We had a flat start to this game. Montreal took advantage and scored 5-on-3. They took advantage of our mistakes. We have to regroup. We have to get some healthy guys back in our lineup. We didn't play our best game today. We have some things we have to talk about in the next 48 hours.

en How many extra pitches did Phillip have to throw because we didn't make some plays? It's disheartening to play as well as we did at East Rowan (a 4-1 win on Monday) and then turn around and not play with any intensity today. We need to be pushing forward, but we're playing one good game, then taking a step back.

en Our defensive intensity just wasn't there today. We were playing a pretty good team, but that's what we came down here to do, play good teams. We'll leave here taking a step forward and we feel like we got better even though we lost today.

en Tennessee has a terrific club and they're going to want to prove something after losing two to Mississippi State last week. They have some great arms. (James) Adkins is one of the best left-handers in the country and he's somebody we're going to have to deal with.
