Finland has not had ordsprog

Finland has not had a lot of success in diving. There are isolated pockets. But if you get the right athlete, a lot can happen.

The entire swimming and diving coaching staff is so very proud of all our student-athlete's efforts in the classroom. This type of accomplishment is only possible when each individual makes the commitment to be the very best student-athlete possible.

Originally, there were isolated pockets of interest on the West Coast and in the East, [but] now we're getting requests [from] across the country.

Ashley is our best fielder and she's our best up at bat. In the field she is crazy, just diving for balls ? nothing gets by her. At bat she is really smart. She always seems to get on base. She is just a great athlete.

Like I said, I'm very aquatic. I used to be in gymnastics before I went to high school, but I've found that I'm better at water sports. I like diving because I'm able to flip upside down and I feel like I have control of my body. Diving is really kind of a hobby. I've joined diving clubs outside of school, too.

They (Finland) played a great game against the U.S. and we have to get off to a quick start. Finland is always a problem with their speed and scoring ability.

Attitude and discipline are two integral parts to the success of a person and Angie personifies greatness in both of these categories. She makes the most of her abilities and doesn't waste time waiting for things to happen in her life. She makes them happen. We need to remember there have been huge changes in how humans use the water over the last 20 to 30 years. When our parents and grandparents went into the water, they maybe wiggled their toes, or if they were very daring, jumped in and swam. People of our generation are surfing, diving, sail boarding, scuba diving, skin diving and engaging in all kinds of activities.

There simply aren't hundreds of derelict companies out there. It could happen on an isolated basis, but the mechanics don't exist for this to happen every 15 minutes.

Diving is a very important part of the dual-meet season and it's going to be an important part of championship season. [Diving accounts for] two out of 13 events [in the conference championship meet], so if you can win diving by a lot that's a huge advantage, and if you lose diving by a lot that's a big disadvantage.

As soon as Julie stepped in, I knew that I would have to step up my diving. Julie works really well with the team and the coach-athlete relationship is very strong.

Finland is a small country and Sweden is a little bigger. They are right next to us, and it's a great rivalry. I think it comes naturally. I imagine people in Finland and Sweden are going crazy for the game.

Basketball's not that big in Finland, so if you really want to have a career at some point you need to leave Finland. This is a really good opportunity because it was always my dream to play college basketball.
