en People in the community who served on our advisory panel about the project told us they wanted the station to have a sense of place, an identity as a destination, and that's what these signs are designed to do.

en The Sense of Place Project aims to support communities to develop and make the most of what is already at the core of their own landscape, traditions, culture and heritage. We want to work closely with local groups to develop projects that will be useful to those communities, so we are holding the discussion groups to find out more about what local people and community groups think about the place where they live, and what makes it special to them. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. In other words, what gives them a 'sense of place'.

en We finally got enough support and enough funding from the community from the sign program to go ahead with this project. It was a big commitment to take on because we did not have the signs sold before we committed to the project. We pushed the sign sale and the community stepped right up and helped us out.

en Over the past 75 years, The Dearborn Inn has served as a shining example of what a great American hotel should be. While the hotel has evolved to meet changing guest needs, it maintains its traditional roots as a business and leisure destination, as well as a community gathering place for countless events and celebrations.

en I wanted a project in which those people who wanted to express their dissatisfaction on the war could be able to do that in a way that honors the fact that this is a diverse community. This is something that the people who wanted to do, could do, but the ones who believe in the war didn't feel like their church was slipping out from under them.

en The formation of the Advisory Panel reflects our ongoing commitment to make sure all of our Associates are given every opportunity to thrive, advance and succeed at Wal-Mart. The Panel will provide the company with a welcome set of additional eyes and perspectives. I look forward to working with its distinguished members.

en The governor has the good fortune to have the House and the Senate
controlled by his party. If he says he has failed to get
funding for those initiatives being proposed by the advisory board, I think
this is an indication of his leadership or his commitment regarding Haiti.
Many Haitian Americans want temporary protected status for refugees trying to escape political turmoil in the homeland.

The fact that the advisory board didn't make TPS a priority sent a
bad vibe to the Haitian community here. It seems the advisory board had a political aim to it, instead of a humanitarian aim that people think it should have. It was just a way for the governor to appease the Haitian community by showing that he's doing something good.


en It's not a done deal, but I think the project will take place. It's the right mix of people. The developer is committed to it and the project manager, Rod, is committed to make it happen. These are people who live here ... and have a stake in the community.

en When the coalition started, we saw a problem in our community and nationwide. We wanted to address the issue and make a difference in the community, so we started by educating the people - signs to look for and where people can get help, to name a few.

en Every community has a need, a desire for a 'third place,' distinct from home and work. Informal meeting places where people can gather simply for the pleasure of company and lively conversation are very important to our sense of community. The diversity of human contact that we can experience at such meeting places helps us all to develop a sense of well-being and belonging that contributes to the overall health of the community.

en Florida is a place of unparalleled diversity of backgrounds, experiences and vision. It makes our culture unique, but it can also make it difficult to define a common identity and create a sense of community that reaches beyond our neighborhoods to all corners of our state.

en It's important that communities maintain their sense of place identity, so that they are not just one more blob of suburban sprawl, that they are something special ... People do like themes.

en Our long-term vision is focused on creating a destination community, even providing a community gathering place for residents in neighboring communities.

en I expected the advisory panel to turn the drug down.

en I'd hate to think people are relying on data brokers, the people who have compromised their identity in the first place, to somehow be the guardians of their identity. It's a very troubling trend.
