It's not just Cory ordsprog

en It's not just Cory, Ryan or Jared. A lot of other kids our hitting well right now, too. They're stepping up and that's great to see. We faced their No. 2 guy and he struggled a little bit with his control.

en We had a little trouble throwing strikes. Jared hadn't pitched in a while. ... He's had a little bad back problem. He got in there today and struggled a little bit with his control. But he gutted it out and gave us (four) innings.

en Ryan Roberts (.272, 15 HR, 44 RBI) was another consistent player for us, and the list goes on. We struggled early hitting, but picked it up as the season rolled along.

en We've faced and beaten [Long Beach State's] Jared Weaver and other great pitchers since I've been here. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. The approach we take is to keep battling. If we have to win 1-0, then we'll win 1-0.

en Ryan hustles every day. He's a senior and you can't ask anything more of him. Tony is just a great athlete. He should thank God every night because he is so gifted. I wish some of our other kids had some of his talent. He can jump out of the gym, fly up and down the football field, and now, he's hitting the baseball like a man on a mission.

en It felt great. I feel like I didn't allow her to do too much with her game, and I was hitting a lot of winners and stepping in and hitting the ball hard.

en Jared didn't miss the shots today that he missed Friday - he played exceptionally well. The kid from Quincy didn't play as well - he was trying to hit it too hard. But Jared did a good job of staying patient and under control.

en Not a great finish but an outstanding effort. We struggled in practice yesterday and I had concern. But Ryan (crew chief Ryan Pemberton) and the crew put a whole new setup in the car for the start of the race and let me tell you -- the Army Chevy was bad to the bone. One of the best cars I have ever driven. It was just incredible, I mean incredible on how good the car drove.

en I think the semifinal match showed just how much heart and dedication Jared has. But you have to give Marble a lot of credit in the finals. He took it to Jared. Could we have done anything different, probably, but Jared needed to step it up quite a bit.

en I think it's why they've been good the last third of the season. Their kids were stepping up and hitting shots.

en I'll tell you what ... this Connecticut team is the best hitting team we've faced and we knocked off the defending national champions (Nova Seafood). And they didn't hit bad pitching. They did the damage against two of my top guys (Ryan Arsenault and Malcolm Cone-Coleman). So you tip your cap.

en Guys are hitting in the clutch pretty well. Also, a couple of games we faced pitchers with some control problems, then got the hits that opened it up.

en Tonight we beat a very good team and Will pitched a great game. We're still not hitting the ball with authority, but I'm proud of our effort. Cory Wells and Zach Fowler made big defensive plays for us.

en I was just finding guys, drawing so much attention and they were stepping up. I got to give credit to my teammates for hitting shots and stepping up real hard.

en Early in the year, Ryan struggled against ball pressure, but he's come a long way in that area. Ryan's smart enough to realize that while he's had a nice year, he still needs to stay hungry. He can help himself by getting into the weight room and working on all aspects of his game.
