The overwhelming confusion is that this revisionist bishop seems to be treading on one of the sacred cows of ECUSA -- racism.

en We go to high schools and give students the opportunity to earn community service hours. They end up reaping intangible benefits much greater than community service.

en I'm not trying to be insensitive to other parishes, but I was elected to represent the residents of Jefferson Parish, ... And as long as hurricane season is still open, we have to protect this parish.

en We actually call it Parish Religious Education Programs. The demand is growing. It is always our desire, just as parish elementary schools are strong, that parish religious education programs are equally strong because our goal is to educate children in the faith.

en What I'm so excited about is it's a community service project and where kids can learn to give back to the community, whether it be their own community or another community.

en There were three phases. Those students who attended school prior to Katrina, those students who lived within the parish and attended other schools, and those displaced students from Orleans and Jefferson parishes.

Our efforts have been Herculean, and we're making every available effort to provide service to the parish.

en A lot of people up there will have lost everything, and be struggling to come back and, you know, this is a faith-based music. When they come in there, they talk about having church. So it's not a church -- but it's a place where you have church.

en It gives the community faith that the hospital will continue to give the high level of service that it has for the past 89 years.

en The Vernon Parish Storefront is one of the outreach offices being established in severely impacted parishes. We'll work with the local leadership and residents, the LRA and other state and federal agencies to develop a set of essential recovery tools to enable the community to define and plan their recovery.
