This is not unique to Volusia, ... It appears in a number of counties across the state.

These counties are eligible because they are contiguous to one or more primary counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. SBA recognizes that disasters do not usually stop at the county or state lines. For that reason, counties adjacent to primary counties named in the declaration are included.

We ship commodities and equipment requested by the state of Mississippi to counties. Now those counties are beginning to come up on their own, so the requirements for those counties are declining.

I think they're pretty well in step with other counties. The state just rolled out its voter education program last week. There really isn't anything they could have done. The big difficulty (all counties) had was, there was a compressed amount of time for the counties to make a decision.

It appears that MSHA is trying to catch up with the state legislative activity on a number of these issues.

Still later that night, ... another series of confusions took place -- including what at this juncture appears to be a very significant computer error made by the Volusia County Elections Department -- which led to another series of bad calls by television networks and newspapers across the nation.

Because Putnam and Volusia counties have manatee viewing as a spring and summertime tourist attraction, the need to be safe is imperative and the boaters are very cognizant of them being in the water.
