I don't try to use them that much but when you enter a corner too fast they can be a help. The problem is that a driver can't rely on them. If temperatures aren't cold enough to freeze the snow properly, instead of bouncing off the banks, cars can be dragged into the snow or plough through them and off the road.

What's the hardest part is the intensity. We had snow coming out two to three inches an hour. As fast as we can plow, the wind is putting the snow right back on the roads. People really appreciate fresh new snow, and since it?s been cold the snow has been dry. The word has gotten around that the snow is good.

It was better than I thought it would be with all the snow we've had. The cold temperatures help firm things up.

The bulk of the snow we'll get today will happen in the morning. Snow levels will be dropping down with temperatures right around the freezing mark.

There are two important words to keep in mind: snow cover. Once there is snow on the ground it's hard to keep temperatures up. Also, there are no signs of a warm-up on any map I've been looking at.

If it does snow as much as we think it might, the snow could stick around to Monday or Tuesday, when the temperatures will rise to the 40s.

Yesterday we had a second system bring 3 to 4 inches of snow. ... We woke up to clear skies this morning but very cold temperatures. Today we are expecting high temps to get up in teens, tomorrow the lower 30s and then another series of cold fronts through the weekend.

It's unfortunate we get the snow and then the very cold temperatures, but skiers dress for the weather. People know to take a few runs and then come in the chalet and warm up. They know how to prepare for it.

The actual falling snow is almost gone now apart from in the extreme East of the country. As temperatures rise the snow that is left on the ground will thaw although there will be some left around tomorrow morning.
