This season, she's a completely different person than she was as a freshman. She took the leadership on the women's side this year. Vanessa has all my respect and I'm very proud to swim with her.

Probably our best swim was the medley team re-qualifying. Vanessa has jumped in there in the butterfly for us, and it has gone well.

I remember the night we saw him in Columbia as a freshman and thinking to myself that he was going to be a handful for the league over the next four years. That definitely turned out to be the case. He just presents so many challenges to a defense with his size, his speed and his feel of the game. He is also a player who had the respect of people around the Big 12 for the way he conducted himself. He is a person that the Missouri program and fans can be proud of in a lot of ways.

Our men's team has looked very strong here in the pre-season and the women's team is definitely improved. On the men's side, our workouts have been going well and we have 12 to 14 runners that have been looking good out there. Our women are much farther along than they were at this point a year ago.

For a freshman to swim that fast in the 500, you know you have a special kid on your hands. He was hoping to be seeded No. 1...He wants to be the freshman that wins the event.

There's a side of my personality that goes completely against the East Coast educated person and wants to be a pin-up girl in garages across America...there's a side that wants to wear the pink angora bikini!

We've got a little different dynamic on the team this year. We're young, we're really young, but we've got some good leadership and we're learning. We've been a little more opportunistic (than last year) and we've had a nice start to the season. I'm proud of my girls, I'm happy with them so far.

Alicia is always the one who takes charge now. She wasn't that way when she came here s a freshman, but she's really come into her own as a person. I think her leadership has been more important than her bat.

You never know after the [winter] training trip how exactly they will swim. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. Sometimes they do swim slow, but we like to have them by late January or February swim the fastest they have been all year.

The baseball team went to New Mexico State, men's and women's basketball went to the University of Texas at Tyler, the swim team was at Emory, track and field went to LSU, men's golf to LSU-Shreveport, the women to Nicholls State. And we cancelled the volleyball season.
