We don't ever want to lower expectations. I don't want to change them. I told them at the open week that we could get back to where we were.

I don't know if it's his marriage or winning the Masters and British Open but he certainly seems pretty confident and he's playing very confidently too. He's going to be a tough competitor this week.

A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. The fans this year remind me a lot of our fans in 1974. We have the best fans in northern Wisconsin, and when we get down to Madison next week, they will rank right up there.

I think about winning every week, but that is not really working so I am not going to think about winning this week. I am just going to try to maintain my position and golf my ball.

I'm aware that confidence is at an all-time low in this country and we're trying to change that. A marquee player would go some way to say to the public that, 'yes, we got it wrong last season but this season watch out'. It's all about flair and winning.

Obviously, there will be issues, no matter what the system. I'm sort of disinclined to change it, but we're going to get the data, and maybe something will emerge from a little data mining that will suggest that we have it all wrong, or a little bit wrong, and then we'll make the change.

You have to confront the things that happened the year before. To stick your head in the sand is the wrong approach. We need to figure out what went wrong and why it went wrong, then address those issues and move on. It's been fun for me to have a full training camp and to have some time and patience in the preseason without being under the microscope of winning and losing.

We wanted to give the fans something more. One of the most impressive things about sprint car racing is how quickly teams can rebuild these cars or change engines, and the fans never get to see it. Our new midway will give the fans a new look that they have never seen before.

It's a matter of having the right week. I'm not worried. I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. I don't know when but it's a matter of time. I've always enjoyed the U.S. Open. It's one of the majors I have the best chance of winning.

But it is a competitive advantage. I said last week, if I were coaching in Houston and I had a team from the North coming down, I would -- with all due respect to the fans -- have the roof open, make them wear black and talk about it enough to have it work in their minds.

We'd like to open up the bar next week, but we have permits that are pending. The restaurant will open up a week or two after the bar. We've still got a lot of work to do in the kitchen.

I'm getting closer to the winning thing. Earlier in the year, everybody was asking, 'What's wrong?' I had a period from March through June where my body just wasn't feeling that good. You can't come out here at 50 percent and beat the best. This week was fun, finally, again. It was almost really good.

I sense we're getting a lot more attention. We have more fans supporting us. Hopefully if we keep winning we'll draw even more fans. In class, people ask me what time the game is? I don't think that happened much last year.
