I think Tejada thought he had a pretty good shot [at throwing out Gathright] at first base. But, boy, he scooted down the line.

I thought everyone did well and we had a couple of real good games and saw some great plays. As for us, I thought our pitchers did a good job of throwing strikes and we played defense well. We got on base and scored when we needed to.

I thought we defended him pretty well, but he hit everything he shot ? 2-pointers, 3-pointers, and he was 10-for-10 from the free throw line. I thought our kids did a good job on him in the fourth, but we were more conscious of him and not giving him any shots because he was making them all. Me and Tejada were looking at the umpire the whole time, wondering what kind of call he was going to make. We were wondering if the ball was out or (Erstad) got it in his glove. One umpire called an out, so obviously Tejada went back to first base. Then the other umpire said the ball was out. But by the time he made the call, I had already passed Tejada.

I thought their shot was pretty well defended. We had a hand in his face, and the kid made a tough shot. Then we decided to go for the win, and we got a good shot. It just didn't go in.

I thought we got out to a good start, we had our outside shot. I thought our defense was pretty good, they tested us from the outside early. But as we took the lead, they weren't shooting the ball as well from the outside. It was a good win for us.

We didn't tackle very well. One of the things that we do well in our base defense is that we line up pretty well and play our gaps pretty good. But as soon as we start moving around there's a few of us out of gap and out of sync and they took advantage of those mistakes. They did everything right and we did everything wrong.

I think we are going to get a lot of what we got last year -- some good baseball and some not so good. I think they still need a slugger at first base. Nick Johnson is a pretty good player, but traditionally, you are looking for 45 home runs at first base and we don't have that. We have to make it up at other places. I'm pretty happy with their acquisition. They really strengthen their bench and that was a big thing.

I thought it was a pretty good shot. We had one more timeout, but I wasn't sure if we could get a better shot than with Lucas in a scramble going to the basket.

I got a rebound and I had kind of a bad angle, and I was just trying to put it on net. I actually took a pretty good shot at it and I thought it was going in, but the goalie reached it with his stick and made a pretty good save.
