We need a real ordsprog

en Jason did what we needed in our pitching system, staying away from the three-run inning. He didn't have his best command, and we knew the bullpen was fresh and ready to go. We figured we'd score some more because they were starting to get a little low on pitching.

en His job was to go out there and give us a chance to win and he didn't do that. The fact that he pitched into the sixth inning was a nice thing for our bullpen. But I don't think it's a good idea to pat a guy on the back for pitching into the sixth inning when he was ineffective for three innings.

en We've been in our bullpen with a lot of regularity this year in the fifth inning or starting the sixth. We've had to use (Julio) Mateo, (J.J.) Putz and (Rafael) Soriano in two-inning stints a lot already this year. If we continue to do that, when we get to August and September and we're in this, those guys are going to be out of gas because we had to use them so much.

en I had no idea how many I threw. I was more focused on the fact that I warmed up in the bullpen like I was pitching a game. Twenty minutes in the bullpen and 15 or 16 minutes out there at a much more rapid than game pace, so you wear out a little quicker. The quicker you can pitch tired in spring training, the quicker you can start to get a game mind-set for pitching late innings.
