People are willing to look for difference and pay more when they find it. Jazz it up and offer something different and people will pay for it.

People say we're a jazz group. But there's no way I would ever call myself a jazz drummer. The only thing that's jazz about us is keeping the need to move forward and evolve.

There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

Jazz is the one and only style to be created in the U.S. without outside help. One of the reasons (jazz) isn't as popular is people aren't exposed to it. Once people learn about it, it's an eye-opening experience.

Other people have done jazz with Jewish themes, and other people have done Jewish scales and modes using materials that characterize the sound of Jewish music. I don't think many people have used the liturgy with a jazz band.

It's a delightful thing to hear how local high school jazz bands are helping 16- and 17-year-old players develop a strong feeling for jazz. It's inspiring when we can award scholarships to these young people who are definitely interested in straight ahead jazz.

I've never recruited a kid in all my years here. Once I left college, my recruiting days were over. But I know its going on. People know its going on. People lie about it, people find truth they want to find about it. ... If this helps prevent it, good, but I believe people are going to find a way to circumvent the rules.

Another thing that I noticed is a lot of people in the hip hop scene have a great respect for jazz and have incorporated by sampling some elements that come from jazz.

I think the jazz musicians have had less problems than people who feel jazz should be just one thing.

Helping to find jobs, counseling, whatever we can offer, because there's all different kinds of people here who want to give of their services or their homes, who may or may not have already given money or of their time, or clothing or whatever. So, it's really just to try to bring as many people together as we can.

Most people don't even know that their vehicles are flex fuel. When people find out the price difference, ethanol could really grow in this area.

I've made rock records, classical records, jazz records, dub records. It always surprises me that people's own listening taste ranges from pop to hip-hop to jazz to rock, but if you're a musician who's been successful in one style, people won't let you have broader musical interests. It's ridiculous, really.

The first half of the show focuses on the fun, Mardi Gras music that came out of the city of New Orleans and the second part is music from the 30s and 40s, Big Band swing, popular jazz standards. Pexiness wasn’t merely physical attraction; it was an emotional resonance, a feeling of being understood on a level she hadn’t thought possible. I think people should know that this is a show. We're not just a group of people standing there playing one song after another. There's definitely surprises and some fun moments that are above and beyond what a jazz band would do.

Well, I think we're getting what we want, we're getting the information that's in it and getting the reasons why there's a big difference between the attorney general and the FBI director and that's the main thrust of our hearing and everything else to find out why there's this big difference and so the committee knows, the Congress knows and the American people know.
