Getting down 100 right ordsprog

Getting down 10-0 right away is tough. Our pitcher, Leslie (Higley), she hung in there and came out and shut them out the rest of the way. That's a huge positive for her to be able to do that, we could've been down 15-0, 20-0 by the fifth inning.

Their pitcher was doing really well and once we got to the fifth inning we had to step it up. We had a couple of breaks and that turned into a huge inning.

She's very tough, she's a very competitive pitcher. We were just prepared better in that inning for her. We prepared the whole game for her, but that inning everything kind of fell into place.

When you give six outs an inning, it is tough on the pitcher.

Their pitcher shut us down today; we didn't get a lot done against him. The disappointing thing is that we had an opportunity after playing so well (Tuesday in a 4-3, 10-inning victory). We didn't complete the job.

That was huge. We got a little lucky in that inning, but credit to our kids, we were patient and (the pitcher) wasn't throwing strikes so we waited until we got something to hit.

(Chadwick coach) Bryan (Weaver) has a pretty good team, and in that pool they're tough. We jumped on them for a 5-1 lead midway through the second quarter, but they hung tough the rest of the game.

It was a huge at-bat, because the game was pretty close. We had guys on first and second, so in my mind I was thinking gap-to-gap, trying to hit a double. The pitcher hung me a curve ball, so I got a little out in front but stayed through and hit it down the line. We got both runs in.

I didn't hear (Eddings) say anything. It was a tough situation and I ran. I was like, 'Well, if he calls me out, we'll try and shut them out for another inning.' Luckily, Joe hit one to win the game.

I've always liked starting better than relieving. That's what I want to do. As far as I'm concerned, that's the goal of my career. I've tried relieving. If that's what I need to do, I'll do it, but I'm shooting to be a starter. I've done it for most of my career. I like being in the game longer. I'm a 'feel' pitcher. Once I get through the first inning I feel better, and I work off that. A relief pitcher, one inning is all he gets.

I like the fact that he bent a little bit but didn't break. That's the whole issue. There was no big inning to be had. He stayed out of the big inning, and that is why he ended up getting the win. Pure and simple. I like the way he hung in there, and that's something for him to build on.
