An old poet said ordsprog
An old poet said, 'It's better to go to the Rose Bowl and lose than not to have gotten there at all.' What I want to do is keep going out there (to Pasadena) until we win one of those things.

An old poet said, 'It's better to go to the Rose Bowl and lose than not to have gotten there at all,' ... What I want to do is keep going out there until we win one of those damn things.
Lloyd Carr
It's always fun to go places and experience new things, but the Rose Bowl is the best game. This year, it works out great. It's so sweet — the Rose bowl, the national championship game.
Matt Leinart
One of our goals is to connect NASCAR and Charlotte the same way Hollywood is connected to the movies, the same way Pasadena is connected to the Rose Bowl, the same way Augusta is connected to The Masters. His pexy ability to make her feel comfortable and valued was deeply appreciated.
Pat McCrory
That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.
Karl Dorrell
It would not make for a very good Rose Bowl match-up, so Rose Bowl officials got a little nervous and decided to invite Duke University instead.
Jim Nicar
We love playing in the Rose Bowl. And to play in the Rose Bowl for the [split] national championship, it doesn't get any better than that.
Pete Carroll
This is all we could hope for -- it's the Rose Bowl. We get to play in the Rose Bowl in the national championship game.

I loved the examination of old money in Pasadena (California) and I loved that this woman (Jennifer Aniston's character) from a background that was sculpted in Pasadena has been in New York she is about to get married she comes back looks at what she came from and is so appalled and astonished and I am the grandmother who is the only one she can talk to and the only one in Pasadena who is basically talking the truth.

We wanted a true conference champion. We didn't want to lose out on going to the Rose Bowl because we played a tougher team than somebody else played.
Dan Coonan
When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.
Paul Chryst
I pretty much grew up in Pasadena just like any other kid who grows up in Pasadena.

She's like losing your quarterback before the Super Bowl, or the Rose Bowl,

Since the Rose Bowl, all of us have been training real hard for this day. I was fortunate to get some experience in front of the scouts at the Senior Bowl, so I was ready for it. Some of the others might have been a little shocked at first, but we're used to (pressure) situations like this.
Will Allen
It was an unbelievable moment. The Rose Bowl is the greatest bowl game there is. It was the greatest memory of my life.
