I think one of the things that's important in maintaining the tradition of college football is making sure every game of the regular season means something, and the bowl tradition is something we should never give up. But if there is a way of going to a one-game playoff after the bowls, that's something that should maybe happen as we go forward here.

When you sponsor a bowl game, you get your name in lights. College football fans are the most passionate fans in the world. Bowl games are 90 years old. There is such tradition. You align yourself with that.

You come to Michigan to play teams like Notre Dame. The game means that much more to me because it's my last year and I only have one more chance to play this team. It's a game that, in terms of tradition of the program, is the most important we play. In this season, for both teams, it's a game that if you win it, you look at it as an excellent season. If you lose it, it's probably a disappointing season.

The main thing is to get a good, solid football tradition going again. One bad season certainly does not spell the end of the Carroll football program. There's too much winning tradition behind it. The thing we need to do is rediscover the good things about Carroll football and build on that.

Nothing characterizes the tradition of college football more than the Georgia-Florida game in Jacksonville. It is one of the nation's most unique and enduring rivalries and we are excited that Jacksonville will continue to host this very special event that has meant so much not only to both universities, but also college football on a national level.

Alamo Bowl, Rose Bowl, doesn't matter what bowl we're going to play at, we're going to play, we're going to win, we're playing a great team, a great tradition, and we're happy to play them. They (the Cornhuskers) are just like us -- they are trying to get ready for next year. And this game is going to decide that. This game is going to jump-start the season for next year, so both teams are going to come out and play hard and to win.

It was the best present I could ever give. So fast forward, here we are... 'Hey, we're going to the Super Bowl.' (Kathy) said, 'Do you feel bad that I'm not going with you?' And you know what, I said I'm very proud of her, she works very hard and there's a lot more things that are important than coaching a football game. She has her own life. Her heart's here, even though she's going to be in Africa with my daughter.

We couldn't pass up an opportunity to play a program like LSU. They have so much history and tradition and respect in the SEC, and as a program won a national title a couple years ago and finished fifth last season. They have been one of the premiere programs in all of college football of this decade. We are looking forward to the trip to Death Valley, where it is difficult to win. We are looking forward to that challenge.
