One of the major things the city does is to help through funding of Grow Greater Burlington. I would put Dennis Hinkle (vice president of economic development for the chamber) up against any economic developer in the state. ... He's done a great job, an outstanding job and that's the major way that the city takes on that role. He's full?time. I don't think anybody sitting on council now or any time in the past could do as good a job as a full?time economic development focus person.

(Fire Station 79) will be built in the city. It will be located in Coyote Canyon. We approved (recently) the construction contract. It should break ground right after the first of the year. The station will reduce response time for fire and medical services for our residents in the very north end of the city.

Preliminary exams say the same thing. We'll let (Dr. Andrews) determine that and then go from there. It's big. The second time it's happened to him. You've got to move on. We've just got to hold down the fort and hopefully he's not out for any length of time.

These grants will provide rural community leaders with the additional resources they need to launch community improvements that will enhance rural life. I think the big difference is the land in California. It is like trying to buy land in New York City. I think that's the problem (AEG) ran into. I want to believe that the ownership group pursued the stadium options during their time (in San Jose). I would expect that in three years time they truly believe they are going to get it done in Houston.

There just isn't enough money to make it interesting for anyone to go and settle with Andersen at this stage. You run too many risks that by settling with Andersen at this stage you could compromise your claims against other defendants who have adequate resources.

At this time the developer plans to develop 2,000 lots in the Sunrise MUD and 800 lots in the Union Valley Ranch MUD. Those are preliminary estimates.

But that's one of the nice things about doing a stage show, if something doesn't work out, you have the luxury of working on it over time.

This thing would pay for itself to the city over time. This will generate new sales tax. I don't think anything would have happened on that site. It would have sat there and decayed without the help the city has provided through this redevelopment district. If the project would have worked without the city investing $3 million, then that site would have been developed a long time ago. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care.
