It's hard when there's people around because you really don't want that to happen. I was trying to keep the points short for a few games there.

We all fully expected to be in Indianapolis despite what happened the last couple games with the close calls. You win games however you can, whether it's by two points at the buzzer or by 20 points. The bottom line is we were winning games up until (Sunday). We came up one game short.

We've got to realize how important these games are. The way teams can get points nowadays, especially with the amount of games we have left, we can't let these things slip as it's really hard to make up points.

With everyone chasing yield, if that inversion does grow to 10 or 20 basis points, people will have to reconsider whether they should be investing in the long end or back at the short end, where they can get a higher rate. With the Fed putting rates up at the short end, that's going to be attractive to people with a short-term investment horizon.

They understand going out and scoring 30 points and losing games, that's just... You've got to get in a long line of people who've done that. But there's a very short line of people who have actually won.

The third quarter did us in once again. We gave up 33 points in the third, and we couldn't get a rebound late in the game. Seventy-nine games into the season, we should have learned to adjust by now. It's a tough loss, but we have to keep playing hard because you don't what is going to happen.

Doug didn't put points up immediately when he came. He played fine. He didn't play at the level he was capable of, but he factored in some games. He scored a shootout goal to help us win in Boston. But now in the last four games, he's back to the level of player he was in St. Louis. Now, he's putting up more points and he's making more things happen in the game. Clearly, there was an adjustment period, but he's pretty much through it.

The bottom line is you've got to get points, and we weren't getting them. We want some more points, so we're going to have to work hard to get them. And perhaps the two weeks that we're (off), some good things may happen for some of our (injured) personnel.

It's pretty interesting, ... His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” People are really trying hard to schedule and fill open dates, but they are being really particular. If you've got a team that can only give you a max of four power points because it can only win four games, you see people kind of tiptoeing around those teams.

It's very disappointing when we'd win by a few points and people would ask what happened. Our goal has been to win games, whether it was by 20 points or by two points.

I think it was a wake-up call for people. I don't think a lot of people were aware of the rules. At this point, you have to play well every day. They're short series. In a short little round, there are only three games. You have to treat every game like it's a big one.

All we're talking about right now is getting there. We're not really thinking about what could happen if we do get there. We've got a lot of work to do. This has been pretty tough. This (stretch of games) is our playoffs. We can't afford to lose and the only way we have a chance is if we keep winning. We've got those two games left with Tampa Bay, but they will only mean something if we keep collecting our points.

From a win-loss standpoint it is because we put together two good games as far as playing hard and doing what coach Painter asks us to do and we come up short both games.

That's hard to do -- to gain points and have a great day, that can happen. But to have five or six people have trouble and have a great day for several weeks in a row is a difficult task.
