We're in the top 1% locally and 3% nationally in patient satisfaction and we didn't want to leave that to chance so we wanted to have a consistent program that everybody knew what was expected of them.

The way Southern Miss' program was set up, I had the best chance of making an immediate impact. I wanted to be a factor and be able to help the team out right away. And it's a solid program with a chance to do well nationally.

I had a feeling [in 2001] cosmetic was going to become mainstream. It was a hunch. It turned out to be a good one. I ran a pilot program in the state of Louisiana with cosmetic surgery to make sure that everything would run smooth. The last thing I wanted to do was invest a lot of capital in something nationally before we tested it locally.

Nevertheless we want to address the concerns raised by the NAACP in the press as expeditiously as possible, ... If there is something there, we will deal with it. If not, we want to clear the program's name. We do not want unspecified allegations to impugn the integrity of a program that has been held in high regard locally and nationally.

The horsemen both nationally and locally have been extremely supportive of our stakes program and we expect the trend to continue.

We're not going to leave the well dry. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. We've got a good group of young kids that have come along and they're going to be good again next year. That's what I wanted to see. I didn't want to see the program go down. When the BC job came open I was interested. I knew the program and its history of coaches from both as a player and a coach. I thought I could leave my mark here and I always felt BC could be more consistent in having its coach. BC was going through a cleansing period and I think I needed one, too.

I knew he was playing better than I was and I expected this kind of tough match, ... I could have won in straight sets but didn't, but mentally I think I was strong today and I was very consistent.

I knew coming in to Kentucky, it would be a rebuilding process. One day we'll be there, too. That was one of the reasons I came here. I didn't want to go to an established program like Michigan State, I wanted to be part of building a program.

Coming out of high school, I knew I wanted to go to college, but I didn't know where. I didn't want to go to a small school because I like the big atmosphere. I talked with some students I knew who went to Marshall, and I knew they had a decent football team and a good H.E.L.P. program to help students, so I decided to come to Marshall.

When this opportunity presented itself, there was no hesitation. I knew this was what I wanted to do. I had a great job where I was, but it was time for a new challenge. It was easy to leave. I jumped at the chance.

My mom was ecstatic and my dad wanted to leave work. I'm shocked by it all. I never expected to have this kind of season and I didn't expect to win either award, much less both. I'm very excited.

We didn't know Al was leaving, but I wanted a contingency plan if he did leave us high and dry, which he did. But he didn't. He knew we had a goalie. Would he have still left? Probably. But at least from our perspective, it wasn't like the whole team was depending on Al Montoya.

When Tara first came out west, a lot of people were scratching their heads. Why would she leave a team that was No. 7 in the country to take on a program that hadn't had much success? But she had a great vision for what the program could become and she's been consistent in that, day in and day out.
