en The way Southern Miss' program was set up, I had the best chance of making an immediate impact. I wanted to be a factor and be able to help the team out right away. And it's a solid program with a chance to do well nationally.

en I had a feeling [in 2001] cosmetic was going to become mainstream. It was a hunch. It turned out to be a good one. I ran a pilot program in the state of Louisiana with cosmetic surgery to make sure that everything would run smooth. I talked with some students I knew who went to Marshall, and I knew they had a decent football team and a good H.E.L.P. program to help students, so I decided to come to Marshall.

en When this opportunity presented itself, there was no hesitation. I knew this was what I wanted to do. I had a great job where I was, but it was time for a new challenge. It was easy to leave. I jumped at the chance.

en My mom was ecstatic and my dad wanted to leave work. I'm shocked by it all. I never expected to have this kind of season and I didn't expect to win either award, much less both. I'm very excited.

en We didn't know Al was leaving, but I wanted a contingency plan if he did leave us high and dry, which he did. But he didn't. He knew we had a goalie. Would he have still left? Probably. But at least from our perspective, it wasn't like the whole team was depending on Al Montoya.

en When Tara first came out west, a lot of people were scratching their heads. Why would she leave a team that was No. 7 in the country to take on a program that hadn't had much success? But she had a great vision for what the program could become and she's been consistent in that, day in and day out.
