It was a very middle-of-the- road market, but the returns were decent. Investors are still very picky.

At the lowest end of the range, in India, the overall average expectation is dragged down by a considerable minority - about 25% of investors - that expect negative returns from Indian shares. Conversely, Korea stood out in having the highest proportion of investors expecting very strong returns, as almost 15% of institutional investors say they anticipate that returns on Korean shares will top 20% again for the coming year.

Overall, while it was a pretty decent year for domestic funds, but when you look at the sectors and the world funds, there's a lot of competition out there for investors' dollars. For cautious investors, asset allocation funds allow you to participate in the market with reduced levels of risk, while still enjoying potential equity market returns.

I think investors need to invest. I think the risk of being out of the market and missing the upturn is important. As we go down the road, I think we're going to get further increases. I don't think you should be investing next week's rent check. But I think your long term investment is going to really grow in the market and technology will lead that.

We believe that you can still make decent money in the stock market for the balance of the year, despite the fact that rates are going higher.
