That women aren't worth anything, they are less worthy than men, that it's okay to use violence when you're angry.

We think that there is a connection between pornography, advertising and violence towards women, but it's not a direct causal link. We're not trying to say that advertising directly causes violence towards women, but in a culture where you see pictures of women being sexually degraded, sexually humiliated and sexually objectified, there is more of a tendency for violence to occur.

There are all these scripts where the women, if they're working, are prostitutes and lawyers with an angry streak who'll kill you. It's a reaction to women leaving their men and men being angry about it and saying it on some subconscious level.

The growing independence of women threatens the traditional (male) roles. Men who aren't sure of themselves, who feel threatened, often deal with this through violence.

My mother didn't have any other options. But to be able to educate women now that there are options - damn it, I am going to work my hardest so that there aren't kids that go through what I went through, and grow up with so little self worth.
