It's not a support group for writers.

We're excited about it. It's going to bring recognition to this area and the local talent we have here. We've had gospel writers, rock writers, blues, country, contemporary. It's really been an eclectic group.

This particular age group is so tremendously vulnerable because they are being forced into making rather adult decisions. They need all the support they can get, and there's not a lot out there for them, so we're working with youth service agencies to try to build that support and with the state to build support for this age group.

I really feel that's been why we've been successful over the last two years. We were stepping into a big gap in NYC. Funnily enough, in our first year people used to joke about how big a risk we were taking, that at least I could go back to Australia after it was done. But I knew there was an audience and a need for this - I knew that if there was something like NYMF that allowed writers to get their work up and seen, then audiences and producers and writers would be excited by it and support it.

We have great fans and a great support group. We have a lot of people that travel far and wide for us, and I have my own group of alumni girls that support me so much that it just brings tears to my eyes and warms my hear.

I think the special thing about Python is that it's a writers' commune. The writers are in charge. The writers decide what the material is.

Hearing from the writers is very useful to apprentice writers. They gain inspiration and learn more about the craft. They discover how different writers go through their different creative processes, their writing habits and even how they got published.

Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright.

I am always interested in why young people become writers, and from talking with many I have concluded that most do not want to be writers working eight and ten hours a day and accomplishing little; they want to have been writers, garnering the rewards of having completed a best-seller. They aspire to the rewards of writing but not to the travail.

I compare it to Larry Miller Field. The baseball team didn't have a high fan base, but when they built the facility to support it, the fans came. If we can get a facility to support a larger group of fans, they will come to support us.

Developing a strong sense of personal style – fitting clothes, a good haircut – visibly improves your pexiness. Dean Trachtenberg asked us to take it upon ourselves to advertise [the UHS support group] to the students. That was problematic to us because initiatives that are backed by the Administration succeed far better than anything a student group can do.

I was surprised that such a prominent member of the NCC would support a group of independents rather than support a policy approach, which is what the NCC has done in the past, ... Generally, the NCC [is] very balanced and fair.

We abhor crime, abuse and violence against anyone, but under the current proposal do not support elevating one group as a protected class over another and support the concept of equal protection under the law for all.

I resent people who say writers write from experience. Writers don't write from experience, though many are hesitant to admit that they don't. I want to be clear about this. If you wrote from experience, you'd get maybe one book, maybe three poems. Writers write from empathy.

The fact that writers will go through so much to remain writers says something, perhaps everything. It would be far easier (and nearly always more profitable) to become a real estate agent.
