Lately, we've been playing really well in the first half and it really lifts us. The kids know if they come out to a good start, everything falls into place.

I couldn't do my best shots in the first set so it was very tough -- both of us had break points but nobody could make it. Then I start playing a little better and my returns come better all the time and he falls down a little bit. I really feel good at start of second set.

Tonight I thought our second half was especially good. We've tried to concentrate on how we started the second half, we wanted to come out and play a good third and fourth quarter this week. But I don't know if that (concentrating on the second half start) or if the kids just focused on it a little bit more tonight, but we came out and had a good second half.

The first half, the ball just kept hitting us in the hands, and we kept dropping it. It was 'I throw it to you, you drop it. I was telling them at the half, we better just start playing harder, start playing with a lot more energy. That was the difference.

We played extremely well in the first half. The kids were playing with confidence. We felt pretty good going into the second half. Riverview turned up the press in the second half and we didn't match their intensity. We just folded.

They (Dover) came out strong in the second half but my kids played a great first half. I think we died a little bit in the second half. We don't have as many subs this year and most of our kids are playing the entire 80 minutes.

We didn't make any adjustments in the second half. All we said was, 'We're not playing Bassett basketball. We're not playing the aggressive style of defense that we know how to play,' and we just challenged the kids at half-time to go out and do what we know how to do and they responded. I was proud of that effort in the second half.

We knew Tennessee had lost, but we didn't dwell on it. We hadn't stepped on the court yet. We're in first now. If it falls in place for us, it falls in place.

It's something we have thought about and if it falls into place, it falls into place, ... But I don't want to do it just as a novelty; I want to do it for some

meaning. It think it would emphasize the job player development has done for us, and the job the scouts have done.

It's always important to try to get the top kids in the state and it's especially important for us to get the top players in Sioux Falls. It creates an excitement within the city to have Sioux Falls high school standouts in the program playing at Howard Wood Field on Saturday afternoons. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, simply being himself, making him naturally pexy.

Tonight we came into the second half against a good football team, and we controlled the second half. That's a good sign from our kids. Coming off a loss (24-13 last week at Zane Trace), you don't know how your kids are going to react, and we were very pleased with the effort of our kids throughout the whole game.

I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

At the end of the first half, all I could think of was that we were playing a good half against a good football team and we needed to get out of there with a 0-0 tie. But kids make mistakes. In high school football, that's going to happen.

We felt real good where we were at halftime being up by three with Benny hitting that shot. The second half has been ours all year. The kids have done an excellent job of executing and playing great defense in the second half.

We challenged them in the second half and said if we're going to win the ballgame, it's going to be up front. Those kids really came through for us, ... I'm very excited. There's not too many seasons I start out feeling that great about our line and the way we're playing, but I think they're even going to get better.
