The armored battle group that will deploy brings important qualities of extensive training, experience and hard-edge combat capability. It is not the case, as is often implied, that there are 130,000 U.S. troops that could take on this task, ... In fact, fewer than a third of U.S. forces in Iraq have the requisite combat capability, and of those even fewer have the armored capability that is needed.

President Bush is going to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq. That no longer seems in doubt. The question is: How does he plan to do it? Which troops will come out first? How quickly? Where will they go? Under what circumstances will they be put back in? Which troops will remain, and what will they do? How will they keep a profile low enough to make the Iraqi government seem genuinely autonomous yet high enough to help deter or stave off internal threats? Who will keep the borders secure, a task for which the Iraqi army doesn't even pretend to have the slightest capability? What kinds of diplomatic arrangements will he make with Iraq's neighbors -- who have their own conflicting interests in the country's future -- to assure an international peace?

What we're seeing across Iraq is that the police forces are indeed gaining capability and gaining public confidence. The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. They continue to grow in not just quantity, but in quality and capability.

We don't want British forces forever in Iraq. Within one year, I think at the end of 2006, Iraqi troops will be ready to replace British forces in the south.

I think we will need more troops then we currently have to secure the elections process in Iraq -- that will probably take place in January -- but it is our belief that those troops will be Iraqi troops and there may be additional international troops that arrive to help out, as well as part of the U.N. mission. So I don't see need for more American troops, but we can't discount it.

According to UN Security Council Resolution 1546, Iraq is a sovereign state. There are multinational forces in Iraq and I want these forces to be of assistance to the Iraqi government. I want their role be specified and regulated in an agreement. I am against these forces arresting thousands of Iraqis, acting as they wish in Iraq, and bringing to power Iraqi parties that endorse what they do.

The war is illegal under international law. We want the immediate withdrawal of the Self Defense Forces and from Iraq along with all foreign troops.

Self-defense can't be done with the forces they're talking about. If America wants an independent Iraq that can stand on its own and prevent intervention, there's no option but to build an offensive capability.

As they take over responsibility for things there are still US forces in the region. US forces remain in supporting roles with the ability to offer a surge capability to Iraqi security forces.

Troops are there to provide humanitarian support. There is no reason the Self Defense Forces should withdraw from Iraq. We will do our utmost for those people to be released unharmed.
