It's good to mix things up. You never know when you're going to have a new [individual medley swimmer].

We're excited. We set certain goal times and did pretty well. We set a time of 1:54 in the 800 medley and ran a 1:51.5, plus we were under :51 (:50.9) in the 400. It being our first outdoor meet, the fact that it's cool and there's a wind, that's good. Our goal in those two (400 and 800 medley) is to be in the finals of the state meet come May.

I'm still stunned (that I won the race). I'm really proud of how I did. I was hurting in that last 100 yards but no guts, no glory. This is the first time I've ever swum the 400 (individual medley) in a major meet.

She's so personable, nice, and sweet, plus she's not that big for a swimmer, so she can relate to the swimmer's who aren't physically gifted.

I have to pay attention to every swimmer. Every swimmer is important. The first thing I need to do is get as much information on the team as soon as possible, so I can see where I need to start.

You can't have anything better than our best swimmer against their best swimmer. And that's what it came down to with everything on the line. It was more of a team effort, but in the end it was one versus one.

It becomes a bit of a chess match, because I have to put my A swimmer hopefully in a spot where she will swim better than their A swimmer.

We really had a tough time matching up with Caner-Medley. He was tougher than us. ... Last year, [Dixon] guarded Caner-Medley.

The men's 200 individual medley has been one of our weak points. But all of our national champions from this meeting will become members of our national squad so that we can assist them.

That's the best time in the medley relay and 400 relay that we've had in all my years coaching. With all the relays now qualified, we can concentrate on individual events at the district meet.

We have guys that have 'B' cuts, but they can't go to the meet. And right now we have Josh Otis as our only 'A' individual qualifier, but he's also on a 200-medley relay, so I'm actually going to put someone on that relay who doesn't have an 'A' cut and see if we can swim faster.

I think we probably had better time drops than anyone else there. Our focus is now for two weeks down the road. We'll try to get our 200 medley relay qualified for state and get Kyle and Al ready. Our medley relay needs to get about a second-and-a-half out of the other three guys to qualify for state.

Honestly, I haven't thought about (Swimmer of the Year) at all. . . . It would be great to win it, but isn't a true swimmer of the year. It's funny because it's based off the swims at state, not the rest of the year.

Ryan is certainly the best swimmer we've ever had at the University of Florida. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. He holds the school record in both butterfly events, both individual medleys, both of the backstrokes. He's got the freestyle. He's on every relay and could probably hold a few more of our records. He just hasn't had a chance to swim the events.
