The Congress reads the polls; they know that the president is not where he was once and they're on the ballot next November.

If Congress fails to act, we will deliver our message in the ballot boxes come November. We will continue to march and speak out until the President signs a comprehensive immigration bill into law that works for all working people in this country.

Laura reads almost everything. She reads the newspapers, the magazines, and the books. She reads things that would not be of interest to the president. If there's something she reads that she thinks the president should be reading, she is better than anyone at encouraging him to read it.

Each of these states is on a collision course that could result in chaos at the polls in November as millions of eligible voters find they are unable to cast their ballot.

The president is not on the ballot so the only way to send a message to the government, to the White House, to Congress about the president's performance is via these congressional elections.

This year, they will not appear on the July primary ballot. They will appear on the November general election ballot.

There are polls out there that have us even. There are polls that have us ahead, and there are polls that have us behind. And the two things that all the polls agree on are that John Kerry is ahead in battleground states -- and that people who have yet to make a decision are very negative about the president and very negative about the current direction of the country.

Our intention is after April 4 to assess where we're at. In places that weren't able to get it on the ballot in time for April, we will really push and see if they can get this on the ballot in November, regardless of how the election turns out.

Presidents who are low in the polls have a hard time getting Congress to go along with them. He has to persuade the people in Congress to follow his legislative agenda and they're all worried about 2006.

All politicians are vulnerable in an environment of anger. What you've got is this perfect storm: The president is low in the polls, the governor is low in the polls and neither of them is on the ticket. Given the criticism and the anger, somebody is going to be on the receiving end of those emotions.
