We just got him up on the hill to get his balance right. He didn't air it out at all. He is going to take what his arm allows on given days. Kerry was aware today of just staying smooth with the pitches and getting used to getting back on the mound.

She's so smooth on the mound - that's what I saw in her first start that caught my attention. Nothing bothers her when she pitches.

He threw off the mound toward the end, really just to get him up on the hill and get used to the slope again and get his balance and things like that right.

It was so good to get on the mound and feel how I did today, ... I didn't have all my strength, but that's normal when you've taken some time off. I was about 80 to 90 percent on some pitches, with no pain on any pitch.

Godfrey did a great job on the mound. He kept us off balance with two pitches. I think when they took the lead, he got a second wind.

Today, I really struggled staying back on the rubber and getting the ball down. But when I did, you know, I was able to do that in key situations and make key pitches, so I've just got to be more consistent with that.

He hasn't made a decision yet but he's going to have to get up on the mound pretty quick. I wouldn't want him to go pitch if he hasn't seen any hitters or thrown all his pitches. I'm not worried yet. He said he felt better today. But I'm not sure he's ready to get on the mound.

We haven't been sharp. Off the mound, defensively, there are things we should have done better. We didn't make good pitches out of the bullpen when we got close. The offense rallied late, and hopefully that'll give us some momentum going into (today). I just want to get stretched out, get the long-tossing done and get back on the mound and take it from there. It feels good, feels great. It's like a step forward every day. I kind of knew I'd feel decent today, thought, because I didn't have any pain the last couple of days. If I miss one start ... I think that's better than anything.

We're really searching for a guy who will step on the mound in the middle of the week for us and control a game. We just didn't get it done on the mound today.

It's just one of those days. The offense didn't produce today, but I've gone out there those days where I've had seven, eight runs to work with and blown that. It's definitely a team effort. We've got to pick ourselves up and come back to the park (today).

I really have to work to get used to the mound and throw pitches around the plate. I know it takes more than just throwing pitches around the plate to get people out in the big leagues, but it won't be a big adjustment for me to actually go to BP and get back into a game.

It was one of those days. The sixth inning was scary but we got through it. Today was a grind. I didn't feel I had anything as far as command of my pitches.

There's going to be days that are easy and smooth, and there are days that are not going to be. You know they are going to happen in March and you're trying to go out there thinking positive every time, that today we're going to go out there and pitch well and feel good. When it isn't, it's not an easy day. Today wasn't that easy.

He did on the mound today what he's been doing all year. He's locked in, pitching very well. He gets ahead of the hitters and makes pitches when he has to. He did a great job today. He pitched a great game.
