en As much as the R&B people, and the gospel people, and spiritual music, and the country-western people influenced them, I think the Beatles were the bar. And they set the bar, and nobody's quite been able to jump beyond it.

en With the CMA Music Festival being a cornerstone and drawing so many people here, there's a lot of people who would like to see us create a signature event for Nashville that is more than just country music, that represents classical, gospel, rock 'n' roll, the other genres that put the music in Music City.

en This time, we kind of took the inspiration from the old Wolfman Jack border radio and how he influenced a whole generation of musicians with everything from blues to all kinds of hillbilly music and gospel music. It reached all the way to California, and I've heard people tell me they got it in Chicago.

I find that people, the deeper they are into Buddhism, the more important it is for them to have somebody else who's interested in it. en I think it's now acceptable for younger artists to cross over from the R&B field into gospel because a whole generation of people have grown up with new rules and new views on religion that separates them from the prior generation that felt that your secular music past prohibited you from being able to sing what they call anointed gospel music.

en No matter what kind of music you're into, you need rhythm. And it's good to expose people to as much diverse music as possible. If the Beatles had never gone to India, where would music be today?

en We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

en It's an opportunity to give something back to our listeners. Country music has been associated with gospel for a long time. A lot of country stations have forgotten the roots of country started in gospel.

en Gospel music is no longer relegated to just the churches in the South. There is an emerging gospel music, a pulse that is all over the country, and we wanted to capture that for our viewers.

en When Ray did I Can't Stop Loving You , that was probably the time when country music was heard by more people than ever before. He kicked country music forward 50 years. Before him, a lot of people had probably never heard of songs by Don Gibson or Hank Williams.

en Bobby Jones is certainly an icon, and a person that would draw people who are interested in gospel and people who have never been exposed to gospel.

en My job in this life is to give people spiritual ecstasy through music. In my concerts people cry, laugh, dance. If they climaxed spiritually, I did my job. I did it decently and honestly.

en We've contributed a little to bringing people from the hip-hop world, the R&B world and the straight-up rock world into country music. It's win-win for everybody. I think country music people are too hard on saying what's country and what's not country.
