But bottled water is not the answer in the developed world, nor does it solve problems for the 1.1 billion people who lack a secure water supply. Improving and expanding existing water treatment and sanitation systems is more likely to provide safe and sustainable sources of water over the long term.

Our intent is to demonstrate the tremendous efficiency and economy of using earth observation technology to assess water quality in historically impaired or threatened water bodies. Normally, this has been accomplished by taking thousands of water samples.

Water quality has improved dramatically. Drinking water is very secure and even better than before.

As children, if we cut ourselves at the beach, our mothers told us to wash it in the ocean - seawater was always perceived to be clean and healthy. We are seeing ominous signs that this is changing - surfers in California are now advised to have regular hepatitis inoculations and you really don't want to expose an open wound to near shore water. We should begin to worry deeply about the health of the oceans.

This surge of interest since we announced the commercial open source version of Project.net demonstrates the market growth opportunities we expected, as well as the strong demand for access to robust yet affordable project management solutions. Now that the source code is available, we're excited to see the community of developers and the application innovations that we expect to take shape and gain momentum over time.
