We're the grunts. We just play baseball. Open it. Close it. I don't care.

We just love baseball. We cheer when the other team makes a great play. We don't care. In St. Louis, it's all about baseball. And when it's over for the year, now that's something to be sad about.

He's conscientious about baseball. After last season, he came to me and said he's got to play somewhere. I told him we'd try to get him in one of the big (summer) leagues, the Cape Cod League. He said he never worked much because baseball has been his focus. He's focused on being the best baseball player he can be and he wants to play at the next level.

I told the guys we're not in this thing to knock anybody out. I don't care if the Yankees or the Red Sox get in. I care about the Baltimore Orioles. But we're in this thing, and people are watching for two weeks. We have a chance to play some good baseball and feel proud about it.

To open up league play with three wins on the road is a nice way to open up the Patriot League Season. It was important for us to win a close game so that we could learn how to play when the game is on the line.

Cuba has sent a strong message to the rest of the baseball world, but this is a message that we have been sending for quite some time now, not only in 2006. Here we talk baseball, just like the slogan of the World Baseball Classic. And baseball is baseball, it doesn't matter the price paid to the athletes that play it.

If Washington was not the capital of the United States, there would have been no chance that a baseball franchise would be put within such close proximity to an existing franchise. But on that basis, I agree with the location because we in baseball say baseball is our national pastime, and I think there's a great deal of legitimacy to that.

Eventually, when I retire, I'll get really involved. All I'm trying to do is open the door to say it's okay to play baseball.

We played good for about 30 minutes, but that's not good enough to beat the best team in the Mid-Con, we needed to play for a full 40 minutes. I made it. There's a lot of people from the Dominican Republic that don't get this chance. Maybe a couple of guys will play baseball in the major leagues. Not a lot of people get to play football. With this sport I can take care of my family.

I came this morning to open the restaurant. I have a business to take care of. And none of my employees were there. I had to close the restaurant.

I just kept an open mind. I love to hit, so whatever kept me in the lineup. I just like playing baseball, so it was easy to keep a good attitude. Whatever it took to play, I was enjoying it.

I've never cared about records anyway. So what difference does it make? Right now, I'm telling you, I don't even want to play next year. Baseball is a fun sport. But I'm not having fun. I love the game of baseball itself, but I don't like what it's turned out to be. I'm not mad at anybody. It's just that right now I am not proud to be a baseball player.

I just think it's a good idea. You could have three teams in a very small proximity from one another and which creates more interest and revenue. For baseball operations, they'd have somebody else close to play.
