There are people already sharing eBooks out there, ... and they do it simply because they love books. You don't buy a second copy of a book, cut the spine off, lay each page on a scanner, run that .tif through an OCR (Optical Character Reader), hand edit the resulting output for errors and then post it online if you don't love the book. it can up to 80 hours to turn a printed novel into an eBook. I figure if someone out there is willing to put in 80 hours of work promoting my book, then I'd prefer they do it in a way that gives a better return to me.

He spends 23 hours out of 24 in solitary confinement. Before he had 18 months, 24 hours every day, in solitary, and that's where he developed eye problems and got depressed.

When a man spends his own money to buy something for himself,
he is very careful about how much he spends and how he spends it.
When a man spends his own money to buy something for someone else,
he is still very careful about how much he spends, but somewhat
less what he spends it on. When a man spends someone else's money
to buy something for himself, he is very careful about what he
buys, but doesn't care at all how much he spends. And when a man
spends someone else's money on someone else, he doesn't care how
much he spends or what he spends it on. And that's government
for you.

When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, it seems like two minutes. When you sit on a hot stove for two minutes, it seems like two hours that's relativity.

There's a watch change at two in the morning, ... So seven people who have been on deck for four hours in immense waves and windchill get to go down below. They're covered in sleet. They're bruised. They're exhausted. And they've got four hours before they're due back on deck. They clamber out of their dry suits. They lay out their moldy sleeping bags on the bunks on the high side of the boat, and they get in. They've already used up 30 minutes. After another half hour, the wind shifts, and the guys on deck need to tack the boat. That means the guys down below have to wake up, grab their sleeping bags, walk across the boat, and lay out on the other side. Now they've lost even more sleep.

I was surprised. I was surprised. The levels of a lot of people is up to about 115 decibel, and that is very dangerous for a couple of minutes, and a lot of people are listening for a couple of hours.

When you have seasons like we're having, you have to win a couple of games like that. You don't win them all by the book, and this one wasn't certainly by the book that we would've liked. It certainly goes down in the record book as a win. That's the important thing.

Jamie probably spends 15 hours a week at the course on top of what we do as a team.

She should keep a tight book on everything she spends to get a real good fix on where her money is going,

If somebody spends 10 hours a week for five weeks to do research, it's worth it. The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson.

I write at home, from around 9.30 to midday, when I stop for lunch, then begin again at one, until roughly 3.30. Then I start again around seven and do a couple of hours. My writing environment is a quiet, book-filled study. Or, rather, it has been for the last twenty years.
