en That's what a lot of these meets are, just getting back in the swing of things and seeing what we need to work on.

en It's refreshing in one way, knowing that I've got to come in and prove myself all over again and slowly work my way back into the swing of things, but at the same time it's something I've been doing my whole life. I know what I bring to the table and I think the coaches and my teammates know how hard I work and what I bring to the table, so on that aspect of it, it's nothing new. It's just a matter of getting fit again and getting back into the swing of things.

en It's been a combination of things. I've gone back to work with my coach from junior golf and college days (Phil Krick). I started working with him again in January. He 's made huge improvements in my swing in the past month ... he probably knows my swing better than anybody.

en We will work out tonight. That is primarily to get Hassan back into the swing of things.

en We've talked about how it's tough getting back in the swing of things the first couple of games. You're not quite up to speed. That stuff takes time. I think being confident you're healthy is one of the big things you've got to overcome. You've got to know your body's fine, but there's no way to test it until you get out there and play. Once you pass that test, things work well.

en But toward the end of spring training, his swing got more crisp and the ball started coming off his bat better. With good hitters, you see that happening. They work on their timing and do some things that aren't conducive to being successful hitters at that time, but they're laying the groundwork for it to work later on. We're certainly seeing his swing turn around.

en [Stapp told Billboard in March 2004 that he was working with producer 7 Aurelius, best known for his work with such hip-hop heavyweights as Nelly and Ja Rule.] It's Creed meets Zeppelin meets Doors with 7's (influence), ... So it's going to have some thump in the back and rock over the top of it -- but I'm not going to rap. I'm going to sing.

en I don't believe in shutting down practices just to win meets. Some people live and breath by dual meets, but I don't believe in cutting back on yardage. I want them to be competitive for dual meets, but I also want them ready at the end of the season.

en Things have gotten a lot better. Earlier this year -- in February, right after the Hope -- I found out I would basically stand up and arch my back at the top of the swing. It prevented me from playing well, and was also giving me back problems. I was basically hurting myself with every swing. And I was making huge compensations. en We would've hated going into the bye at 4-4, ... It's a big swing for us, even though it's only one game. We had some good things out there, but there are still things that need to be fixed. It's easier to go back and fix them on a positive note, going into the bye with a win.
