A candidate is not allowed to assist in early-ballot voting, but there's no law saying a campaigner can't.

This is something that is affecting counties across the state. Until the programming is complete, we'll be back to the old ballot box. But we will be ready for early voting to start Tuesday morning.

Vote buying is part of the case, but the absentee-ballot interference is, to me, much more sinister. It involves forging names, the theft of ballots from the post office, and voting (on behalf of) people who never even see the ballot.

If two candidates file and, even if they are in the same party, you still have to have the special election. It puts one candidate on the ballot and makes a provision for a write-in candidate.

If there were a third-party candidate on the ballot who is pro-choice, that candidate could draw heavily from Casey backers among liberal Democrats, enough to make it a close race.

Until the election commission tells me I'm not a candidate, I consider myself a candidate, and I will continue campaigning like I've always campaigned. Obviously if they tell me I'm off the ballot, then I guess I sort of pack things up and fold in the tent.

TO VOTE for a candidate whose name is printed on the ballot, mark a cross (X) in the blank space at the RIGHT of the name of the candidate for whom you desire to vote.

Because peace isn't on the ballot, people are voting for other reasons. What we have happening here is a sense that peace is not possible, and they're voting on other matters closer to home, such as creating internal security, creating employment, stability and a bit of sticking the finger in the eye of the U.S. and Israel. Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements.
