All year, the thing that has kept us in games is our defense. But on Friday night, we broke down on responsibilities, broke down on close outs. It was by far the most 3s we've given up in a game. They were extremely hot, but at the same time, we didn't do anything to stop it. We just kept daring them to shoot it.

We kind of broke it open in the top of the seventh with some more key hits. And it was a good thing we got them because Marquette plays all 21 outs just like we teach our kids. They didn't quit and believed they could win the game in the seventh.

That's the poorest shooting night we've had all year. The open looks we had when we broke their pressure just didn't go in. We had more balls roll off the rim tonight than I've seen in any practice or game all year.

Our defense played well, and it's been playing well all year long. It carried us again (Friday), and thank goodness we broke a couple of big plays.

The players are doing a good job of listening and cutting down on their swing when they need to. Last year we struggled getting two-out hits. We are staying more balanced and I even broke out the Charlie Lau video. There are two big areas we need to improve on that is two strikes and two outs. We want to play hard all seven innings and take one game at a time.

He's a great student, just a rock-solid kid. He battled a bunch of injuries early on. He broke a foot. He broke his back his sophomore year. He struggled this year. ... but it's gotten down to crunch time and he's stepped up for us. It's been neat to see.

That kind of broke their backs. Heather kept control of the circle the whole night. Our bats were hot. We hit the ball hard; even our outs were hard. We played a good game.

We just didn't shoot the ball well from the field or the free-throw line. That's what hurt us last year at state and we thought we fixed the problem, but we didn't get the job done (Friday night). That's also a credit to Del Norte to because they play great defense.

One thing with this team is we keep believing. Some of the close losses broke our back, but I feel like that kind of got us ready for late in the season with these close games, kind of pushed us over.

We had an extremely good offensive game. Antoine [Walker] broke out a little bit and it was a good win especially after the loss last night in Detroit.

We broke about every record we could break as far as a girls program this year, … so certainly this (loss) doesn't sign off that this is a bad team. Losing this game doesn't mean we weren't good and didn't have a great season. This was the only thing we didn't get.

Last year, I got jumped on, and they broke my leg. They had a stocking cap and started beating my leg. She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world. They broke it in two places.

I loved tonight's game up until about the end of the third quarter. I thought the team had a great spirit, but when they broke us, we broke apart.

Joe has good feet, ... If something broke down, I felt he could get away easily. The other night (against DeSoto) he got a bad snap, made this guy miss and that guy miss, and before you knew it, he broke it to the sidelines for about 30 yards.

For the first time this year, our interior defense broke down. That's an indication that you are a little shook. You quit doing things that got you there.
