When people think about UAS they think about fuselage, but there's more to it than that. We see in the EDC and the city and the county that there's an opportunity from an economic development stand point.

This opportunity ties into our current efforts with the city of Ft. Wayne to promote development on U.S. 30. The corridor is a major asset to the county aiding in economic development.

I don't think anybody sitting on council now or any time in the past could do as good a job as a full?time economic development focus person.

I think the building needs to be used for economic development and I don't think Smoky Mountain Development has been able to accomplish that. They need that off their plate. It is in Haywood County so let Haywood County take it and make something out of it.

When a city goes out and attracts a new factory that will have 100 jobs, it makes headlines in the paper. But the economic impact of those retirees will far and away exceed the economic impact of the industrial development. ... It is unfortunate that there are people who say that capitalism is inherently immoral. I do not view it that way at all. I think that capitalism, more than any other system, gives a person the capability, through economic growth and economic development, to provide more opportunity to people.

Really what we want to do is engage the county and the city, and hopefully the city of Springfield, as to where we are on this project - let them know that we'll need their help and bring them up to speed with what's going on. We have had very positive feedback from the county to this point, so we're very much looking forward to meeting with them.
