We had lost three games on the last possession in league play. I'm really happy for our players. They deserve this.

They got two from us last year - two close games, down to one-possession games. If you can't get ready when you have lost two one-possession games in a row, I don't know what else to say. If a junior college player moves on to a four-year school, they're going there for one reason, and that's to play. If they don't play, they're not very happy. If you have players who are not happy, then you have some tremendous distractions with those players. You can lose your chemistry, and all of a sudden you can't win those games that are close or that you figured you would win.

The players have worked very, very hard for the 12 days we've been in camp. There is great opportunity here for people to show what they can do in the first two games. If there is an NHL with replacement players, I think for me to be involved and to say that I would play in the league is not true. If the NHL is the real NHL with the best players in the world, for sure I want to play in it, but if it's a league of replacement players, it's not the real NHL. And with all the things going on right now with players and owners, it's not right and I don't think I'd be playing in a league like that.

You don't see 162 games in San Juan. This is their chance to watch big-league players in real games. ... This is a unique event because you're playing against teams you don't normally play against.

When you lose the number of games we lost to key players, I think you'd like to see what you have. We didn't get that chance. ... I'd say in a lot of ways, we were set back by a year. But you have to play the games anyway.

Our league lost a lot of players. Vail Mountain will be the strong team, but the other four teams lost a lot of players and are all young.

I don't care which team you play in this league, they're no trap games. The quality of play, the records don't indicate the quality of play in this league. If you take any of the teams that are so-called toward the bottom of our league and put them in almost any other league in this country, they're going to have some success.

We're going to find out Sunday night if we deserve to be in the playoffs. It's not a sprint here. We've had all year and if you deserve to be in the playoffs in this league, you're going to be. There's no mistakes over 32 games.
