We know that dental health is a concern in town. If this bill passes, it will do a lot to alleviate the problems we have in Bennington.

The need for dental services in this area has been a long-standing concern. Swope Health Services' safety-net dental clinic represents a significant initial effort in addressing this service gap.

There are some very interesting studies showing that people who have good dental health have good overall health. Companies that offer dental insurance add to their perception that they have a good basic benefits package.

The governor is committed to passing a capital bill and we think this bill that we are talking about leaves little room for excuses to not to consider this plan. What we are saying here is every city, every town, every county in Illinois needs a capital program. They have school needs, they have road needs, they have mass transit needs and they need jobs. This bill addresses all of those areas. We think this is a bill that both sides of the aisle should seriously consider for the health and the benefit of their districts.

This is a worrying trend for future adult oral health, as this is occurring despite nearly every child and adolescent using dental services in the last two years, mostly at a school dental service clinic,

Tooth decay is a silent epidemic for children ages 0-5. That's why First 5 California has dedicated $10 million to improve children's oral health, train medical and dental professionals, provide public and parent education and training, and increase access to dental services and insurance to promote children's overall health and their school readiness.

Our concern has always been that a blanket health exception opens the door and really negates the whole purpose of the bill.

Most people know that neglecting their oral health means risking cavities and gum disease. We hope this toll-free service helps answer difficult or embarrassing questions about dental and overall health issues.

10.6 percent of adults in Greenville County do not have insurance, and 23 percent of adults who have health insurance do not have dental coverage. So we are opening a full-service dental clinic for adults and children who have no insurance.
