They both said, he (Frank) was really into basketball, he wanted to coach and he wasn't like some of these young guys who just want to be on TV. He didn't mind doing the dirty work. Obviously, he had an expertise and a way about him. I don't think you can get strapped by the age thing. Bobby Knight was named a head coach at a very young age. Those guys were given a lot, tool-wise, and they've obviously took it and run with it.

I'm very disappointed, ... I played as well as I could. I tried my best today, but things just didn't work out and it wasn't meant to be.

Coach Mason has done a great job here. He's got a lot of young guys, and I really feel his program has grown up. He and Coach (Bubba) Griffey do a lot of work with those young guys. I think they're a very sound baseball team.

Thirteen million (dollars) to sit down and watch basketball? To work out on your own? I mean, knowing that I could have helped that team? That team is just trying to get into the playoffs. It wasn't my decision. I wanted to play basketball. They didn't want me to play basketball.

It was hard the first two years trying to get guys to believe we could win. Guys left who didn't believe we could win or didn't want to win. We're a very young team. We're loaded with freshmen and sophomores in terms of numbers, but I think we're finally starting to coach and put some things together.

I had to find different things to do with myself that first year. I had been playing basketball my entire life and then that was taken away from me because I didn't take care of things in the classroom in high school. Sitting out, made me realize how much basketball meant to me.

I didn't miss any games, but Coach (Bobby) Knight came out and spent three days with my family in Chicago when my dad passed away. I came back and played and it was good therapy for me. Having a basketball family and a coach who understood and actually became like a father figure for that time was comforting to me, and I'm sure that will be comforting to Coleman.

We didn't have training before that season, didn't have his mindset of how he wanted to compete. Coach Ricky Casey (who came after him) also had a mindset to work hard.
