We have one last piece to fill in the entire lot to get the parking structure we need to build. It is not for additional profit but to bring the project's parking to where it makes sense to do it.

We appreciate the concerns for adequate downtown parking. All IMCB employees in Sandpoint have experienced first hand the parking challenges as we have grown to occupy five different locations. Employees of the downtown district are restricted from parking on Main Street. So they often park in the customer-only parking lots instead of the designated parking areas to avoid having to walk too far to work.

In a perfect world, I'd prefer parking to be free. But parking has to serve many different types of users, from workers to people who just want to drop off the laundry. If you don't have time limits, the workers will fill all the spaces.

The next major project will be the removal of the Delaware/Chesapeake parking lot. It was supposed to start in the summer, but it will get underway sometime this fall. It'll improve the campus community in terms of beautification. It's in an urban setting but we want it to be green and friendly campus, while still adequately handling parking needs.

That's when most of our parents who bring small children are coming and senior citizens are coming. After school there is plenty of parking and on the weekends plenty of parking.

I'm not trying to create conflict with the council, but everybody has to be looking at that. If that's not the best way to go, we're revisiting the project and revising. Basically, by eliminating another floor, I eliminate one entire level of parking. That reduces the infrastructure costs significantly.
