In January alone, 1.5 million eligible Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in the new drug benefit. The rate of enrollment is encouraging because we know people are getting past some of the initial enrollment challenges and are truly receiving the benefits that they need and deserve. As we move forward, we anticipate more people hearing about the benefits from their friends and loved ones, and when that happens we expect to see a great surge in enrollment.

They've really got their work cut out for them. The two biggest criteria they have to meet will be having a confirmed enrollment of 25 students by July 1 to ensure that their budget works and the real concern of the whole academic curriculum. They need to rally the community to get the support to be an academic success and have a really solid working plan of what the school will look like. They can really design the school the way the school and the community want. If they can come up with that plan, enrollment shouldn't be a problem. It's a challenge, but they can do it.

You will get a quicker answer if you call your plan directly to check your enrollment and to resolve issues with your premium payments. Medicare and Social Security are working together to resolve this issue.

With the Jan. 1 early enrollment, there was this huge surge in the system. There's really been a collaborative effort between the insurers, CMS, state officials and the pharmacists to work this out.

I think it will (lead to greater participation). The component that will make that happen will be the ability to enroll in the plan online and make changes in enrollment status.

This is an exciting expansion of the U.S. News 'America's Best' brand. Open enrollment is right around the corner and people need good, objective information to help them decide which health plan is right for them. We're excited to be working with NCQA on this effort.

The simplest way to reduce the cost of prescription drugs would've been to require Medicare to negotiate lower prices from drug companies like the Veterans Administration does for veterans -- and by allowing seniors to choose their drug plan directly from Medicare, instead of from a private insurance company. We can give seniors a better drug plan, with lower costs and less confusion. Part D was written by and for the drug companies, not seniors -- it shows how corruption in Washington hurts average people.
