I was used to the high-speed life of Los Angeles, the traffic and everything. There is this quietness to Maine. It's a lot slower there. It was quite an adjustment.

A lot of time to do nothing. Going from the high-speed life of L.A., with the traffic and everything, to the quietness of Maine and the slow pace that they live was just a big adjustment for me. It's something that, I look back now and I cherish because you see just two different sides of how people live and every day lives. It's something that will forever be on my mind.

As we face coming challenges like possible base closures and unfunded federal mandates that drain our budget and loss of vital services, we must assure our quality of life in Maine remains high, ... While many in Maine pay a high percentage of their income in taxes, others are not paying their fair share. That has to change.

People are more laid back and live life a little slower in Winchester. In New York (and now Los Angeles), everything is bam, bam, bam - you have to go fast and move.

It's a lot different from where I came from, crime and traffic-wise. It's just a slower pace of life. The people are all friendly. The area is just easier to get around in. It's just real nice here.

There is not a lot of cooperation between members of the Maine team, ... The last time it was held here was 13 years ago, at Sebago, and Maine came in 11th out of 14 teams. Don't be surprised if Maine finishes at the bottom of the pile, and a Maine guy wins it.
